The day I had been waiting for finally arrived. My journey to the Philippines began with a 5:00 AM flight from Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta via Citilink. My uncle accompanied me to the airport, which is only 3 km away from my grandfather’s house. I traveled from Palembang to Jakarta on my own.
After arriving at CGK Terminal 1B at 6:00 AM, I took the Skytrain to Terminal 3. While waiting three hours for my next check-in, I met several other students from different provinces who were also heading to the Philippines. I met Yeni, Dona, Chika, Petra, Anam, and Shepti. We introduced ourselves and had breakfast together.
Chika, Yeni, Shepti, and I were on the same Scoot Airlines flight at 11:50 AM, which had a 10-hour layover at Changi International Airport in Singapore. We had planned to join a free city tour, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. Instead, we explored Changi, which is truly an amazing airport. We enjoyed many of its facilities, including the sunflower garden, the movie theater, games, and the duty-free shops.
Before having lunch at McDonald's, I exchanged some of my USD for SGD. During our stay, we met many international tourists, including a very kind couple and a gentleman named Mr. Salahuddin from Bangladesh. They shared a lot of knowledge and advice with us. Mr. Salahuddin even gave us chocolates and his business card, and we made sure to take a photo together.
We also met a girl from China who surprisingly could speak Bahasa Indonesia! Finally, we continued our flight to Manila at 12:45 AM on August 19.
